Our Mission

Family violence is a complex social issue that requires coordinated efforts across the community to address.

To really effect long lasting change we need to stop operating as silos of support, particularly when survivors are commonly dealing with trauma, overwhelm, and confusion about where to access critical resources and support when time is of the essence.

We are dedicated to collaboration, and building strong partnerships so we can work together to genuinely effect change to drastically reduce the incidence of domestic and family violence and continue to support survivors better.

Together we are:

  • Offering consolidated and collaborative education, product, and service delivery in the one place.
  • Responding to the growing prevalence of Domestic Violence in Australia and the Australian National Plan to address Domestic Violence and abuse.
  • Enabling more effective surveillance, document management and evidence gathering to better support survivors, service providers, community, police and legal actions.

    Evidence is Key

    Document & Evidence Hub

Most people leaving an abusive relationship feel overwhelmed about how to ensure they remain safe but particularly confused about the documents, evidence, processes, protection orders and legal processes.

This is then often even more significant when they need to make arrangement for separation, communicate and negotiate with the perpetrator about parenting and financial matters and then potentially co-parent together.

We are passionate about assisting domestic and family violence survivors to obtain the protection they deserve and then walk with them every step of the way to navigate their separation and any relevant legal matters relating to parenting and financials.

    Our team can help you:

    • prepare statements for police
    • create your chronology of events and supporting evidence
    • draft affidavits and statements to support your application for protection orders and court proceedings
    • assist with documentation to help prepare you for any mediation and family law matters
    • provide guidance on security issues around court processes

The New Australian 'Leaving Violence Program'

The Leaving Violence Program started in Australia on 1 July 2025. It supports eligible victim-survivors leaving violent intimate partner relationships.

You can no longer apply for the Escaping Violence Payment (EVP) because the trial ended on July 1, 2025, and has been replaced by this new Leaving Violence Program.

To apply for the new program, which provides financial assistance and support, visit the program’s website or call the phone line at 1800 2 LEAVE (1800 253 283).

The Leaving Violence Program is not a crisis support service.

The program is delivered in 2 ways:

    • a national program delivered by a national provider
    • regional trials in 4 regions across Australia, delivered by First Nations-led organisations.

Eligible victim-survivors can get up to $5,000 in financial support, including up to $1,500 in cash and the remaining funds in goods and services. Other supports include safety planning, risk assessment and referrals to other services for up to 12 weeks.

    Eligibility

To be eligible for support through the Leaving Violence Program, a person must:

    • be a victim-survivor of intimate partner violence
    • have left or have a plan to leave an intimate partner violence relationship
    • be aged 18 years or older
    • be residing in Australia as an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or temporary visa holder
    • be experiencing financial stress

    and have either:

    • changed living arrangements in the past 12 weeks as a result of the intimate partner violence (including if the person using violence has left the home)

    or

    • plan to change living arrangements, including when the change will occur.

Support is available to victim-survivors of any gender, sexuality or visa status.
